A seed is a relatively small embryonic plant encased in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. It is the product of the ripened ovule of plants which takes place after fertilisation. The creation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in plants. Seed tissue becomes the food that the young plant consumes until the roots have developed after germination. The seed, which is an embryo with two points of growth (one of which forms the stems the other the root) is enclosed in a tough protective seed coat. New seed is formed in plant structures called fruits. Buy seeds online here at www.easytogrowseeds.co.uk.
