What are greenfly? They are one of the more common garden pests: small green insects which live on the undersides of leaves. They exponentially grow in numbers in warm weather!

How to control greenfly

1. Always make sure newly bought plants are clear of greenfly by checking the tops and bottoms of leaves. If necessary, keep them in quarantine for a few days in a secluded area.

2. Fleece is a useful barrier against greenfly as it still lets in light and moisture.

3. Companion planting can help keep numbers down by confusing and distracting the bugs.

4. Bird boxes. Encourage insect eating birds by providing the right habitat.

5. Wash them off with a fine spray. Spray them with soft soap. Spray them with derris or pyrethrum.

There are around 400 varieties of chilli, otherwise known as mirchi (Hindi), marchu (Gujarati), or molzhukai (Tamil). Chillies infact belong to same family as tomatoes and potatoes. India is largest producer of chilli. Beware visiting Mexico - those gherkin like things on your burger? They are fiery green chillies!
