Beetroot vegetable seeds: an early variety with red, extra sweet flesh. Beetroots are not recommended for diabetics due to their high sugar content. 480 seeds per pack. Sow Mar-end Jun. Beetroots contain the nutrient betaine, which is important for cardiovascular health. Betaine reduces the concentration of homocysteine, a substance which can be harmful to blood vessels and thus contribute to the development of heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. Beetroot juice has been shown to lower blood pressure and help prevent cardiovascular problems. When cooking beetroot, keep the vegetable whole and do not chop into pieces - otherwise flavour is lost (and beetroot stains many surfaces and your hands more readily when cut). |
